In early 1984, the Mobil Corporation produced a seven-minute video for the Mayor of the City of New York. Shot on location in the immediate vicinity of Mobil's headquarters at 150 East 42nd Street, the film documented neighborhood problems as seen by Mobil employees: homelessness, crime, graffiti, litter, pedestrian obstacles and deteriorating public structures. The last minute of the film showed, by contrast, the landscaped suburban headquarters of some of the company's Fortune 100 counterparts, concluding with the question, "What do we tell our employees?"
